commit 0cde5b44a30f1daaef1c34e08191239dc63271c4 upstream.
When commit b27311e1cace ("MIPS: TXx9: Add RBTX4939 board support")
added board support for the RBTX4939, it added a call to
led_classdev_register even if the LED class is built as a module.
Built-in arch code cannot call module code directly like this. Commit
b33b44073734 ("MIPS: TXX9: use IS_ENABLED() macro") subsequently
changed the inclusion of this code to a single check that
CONFIG_LEDS_CLASS is either builtin or a module, but the same issue
remains.
This leads to MIPS allmodconfig builds failing when CONFIG_MACH_TX49XX=y
is set:
arch/mips/txx9/rbtx4939/setup.o: In function `rbtx4939_led_probe':
setup.c:(.init.text+0xc0): undefined reference to `of_led_classdev_register'
make: *** [Makefile:999: vmlinux] Error 1
Fix this by using the IS_BUILTIN() macro instead.

commit 7b82c1058ac1f8f8b9f2b8786b1f710a57a870a8 upstream.
Fix commit e50c0a8fa60d ("Support the MIPS32 / MIPS64 DSP ASE.") and
send SIGILL rather than SIGBUS whenever an unimplemented BPOSGE32 DSP
ASE instruction has been encountered in `__compute_return_epc_for_insn'
as our Reserved Instruction exception handler would in response to an
attempt to actually execute the instruction. Sending SIGBUS only makes
sense for the unaligned PC case, since moved to `__compute_return_epc'.
Adjust function documentation accordingly, correct formatting and use
`pr_info' rather than `printk' as the other exit path already does.

commit 2ec420b26f7b6ff332393f0bb5a7d245f7ad87f0 upstream.
The inline asm retry check in the MIPS_ATOMIC_SET operation of the
sysmips system call has been backwards since commit f1e39a4a616c ("MIPS:
Rewrite sysmips(MIPS_ATOMIC_SET, ...) in C with inline assembler")
merged in v2.6.32, resulting in the non R10000_LLSC_WAR case retrying
until the operation was inatomic, before returning the new value that
was probably just written multiple times instead of the old value.
Invert the branch condition to fix that particular issue.

commit d8550860d910c6b7b70f830f59003b33daaa52c9 upstream.
When the scheduler sets TIF_NEED_RESCHED & we call into the scheduler
from arch/mips/kernel/entry.S we disable interrupts. This is true
regardless of whether we reach work_resched from syscall_exit_work,
resume_userspace or by looping after calling schedule(). Although we
disable interrupts in these paths we don't call trace_hardirqs_off()
before calling into C code which may acquire locks, and we therefore
leave lockdep with an inconsistent view of whether interrupts are
disabled or not when CONFIG_PROVE_LOCKING & CONFIG_DEBUG_LOCKDEP are
both enabled.
Without tracing this interrupt state lockdep will print warnings such
as the following once a task returns from a syscall via
syscall_exit_partial with TIF_NEED_RESCHED set:

Fix this by using the TRACE_IRQS_OFF macro to call trace_hardirqs_off()
when CONFIG_TRACE_IRQFLAGS is enabled. This is done before invoking
schedule() following the work_resched label because:
1) Interrupts are disabled regardless of the path we take to reach
work_resched() & schedule().
2) Performing the tracing here avoids the need to do it in paths which
disable interrupts but don't call out to C code before hitting a
path which uses the RESTORE_SOME macro that will call
trace_hardirqs_on() or trace_hardirqs_off() as appropriate.
We call trace_hardirqs_on() using the TRACE_IRQS_ON macro before calling
syscall_trace_leave() for similar reasons, ensuring that lockdep has a
consistent view of state after we re-enable interrupts.

commit 162b270c664dca2e0944308e92f9fcc887151a72 upstream.
KGDB is a kernel debug stub and it can't be used to debug userland as it
can only safely access kernel memory.
On MIPS however KGDB has always got the register state of sleeping
processes from the userland register context at the beginning of the
kernel stack. This is meaningless for kernel threads (which never enter
userland), and for user threads it prevents the user seeing what it is
doing while in the kernel:
(gdb) info threads
Id Target Id Frame
...
3 Thread 2 (kthreadd) 0x0000000000000000 in ?? ()
2 Thread 1 (init) 0x000000007705c4b4 in ?? ()
1 Thread -2 (shadowCPU0) 0xffffffff8012524c in arch_kgdb_breakpoint () at arch/mips/kernel/kgdb.c:201
Get the register state instead from the (partial) kernel register
context stored in the task's thread_struct for resume() to restore. All
threads now correctly appear to be in context_switch():
(gdb) info threads
Id Target Id Frame

3 Thread 2 (kthreadd) context_switch (rq=<optimized out>, cookie=..., next=<optimized out>, prev=0x0) at kernel/sched/core.c:2903
2 Thread 1 (init) context_switch (rq=<optimized out>, cookie=..., next=<optimized out>, prev=0x0) at kernel/sched/core.c:2903
1 Thread -2 (shadowCPU0) 0xffffffff8012524c in arch_kgdb_breakpoint () at arch/mips/kernel/kgdb.c:201
Call clobbered registers which aren't saved and exception registers
(BadVAddr & Cause) which can't be easily determined without stack
unwinding are reported as 0. The PC is taken from the return address,
such that the state presented matches that found immediately after
returning from resume().

commit 1be7107fbe18eed3e319a6c3e83c78254b693acb upstream.
Stack guard page is a useful feature to reduce a risk of stack smashing
into a different mapping. We have been using a single page gap which
is sufficient to prevent having stack adjacent to a different mapping.
But this seems to be insufficient in the light of the stack usage in
userspace. E.g. glibc uses as large as 64kB alloca() in many commonly
used functions. Others use constructs liks gid_t buffer[NGROUPS_MAX]
which is 256kB or stack strings with MAX_ARG_STRLEN.
This will become especially dangerous for suid binaries and the default
no limit for the stack size limit because those applications can be
tricked to consume a large portion of the stack and a single glibc call
could jump over the guard page. These attacks are not theoretical,
unfortunatelly.
Make those attacks less probable by increasing the stack guard gap
to 1MB (on systems with 4k pages; but make it depend on the page size
because systems with larger base pages might cap stack allocations in
the PAGE_SIZE units) which should cover larger alloca() and VLA stack
allocations. It is obviously not a full fix because the problem is
somehow inherent, but it should reduce attack space a lot.
One could argue that the gap size should be configurable from userspace,
but that can be done later when somebody finds that the new 1MB is wrong
for some special case applications. For now, add a kernel command line
option (stack_guard_gap) to specify the stack gap size (in page units).
Implementation wise, first delete all the old code for stack guard page:
because although we could get away with accounting one extra page in a
stack vma, accounting a larger gap can break userspace - case in point,
a program run with "ulimit -S -v 20000" failed when the 1MB gap was
counted for RLIMIT_AS; similar problems could come with RLIMIT_MLOCK
and strict non-overcommit mode.
Instead of keeping gap inside the stack vma, maintain the stack guard
gap as a gap between vmas: using vm_start_gap() in place of vm_start
(or vm_end_gap() in place of vm_end if VM_GROWSUP) in just those few
places which need to respect the gap - mainly arch_get_unmapped_area(),
and and the vma tree's subtree_gap support for that.

commit b617649468390713db1515ea79fc772d2eb897a8 upstream.
One of the last remaining failures in kernelci.org is for a gcc bug:
drivers/net/ethernet/qlogic/qlge/qlge_main.c:4819:1: error: insn does not satisfy its constraints:
drivers/net/ethernet/qlogic/qlge/qlge_main.c:4819:1: internal compiler error: in extract_constrain_insn, at recog.c:2190
This is apparently broken in gcc-6 but fixed in gcc-7, and I cannot
reproduce the problem here. However, it is clear that ip27_defconfig
does not actually need this driver as the platform has only PCI-X but
not PCIe, and the qlge adapter in turn is PCIe-only.
The driver was originally enabled in 2010 along with lots of other
drivers.

commit 884b426917e4b3c85f33b382c792a94305dfdd62 upstream.
If copy_from_user is called with a large buffer (>= 128 bytes) and the
userspace buffer refers partially to unreadable memory, then it is
possible for Octeon's copy_from_user to report the wrong number of bytes
have been copied. In the case where the buffer size is an exact multiple
of 128 and the fault occurs in the last 64 bytes, copy_from_user will
report that all the bytes were copied successfully but leave some
garbage in the destination buffer.
The bug is in the main __copy_user_common loop in octeon-memcpy.S where
in the middle of the loop, src and dst are incremented by 128 bytes. The
l_exc_copy fault handler is used after this but that assumes that
"src < THREAD_BUADDR($28)". This is not the case if src has already been
incremented.
Fix by adding an extra fault handler which rewinds the src and dst
pointers 128 bytes before falling though to l_exc_copy.
Thanks to the pwritev test from the strace test suite for originally
highlighting this bug!

commit 8c9b23ffb3f92ffa4cbe37b1bab4542586e0bfd1 upstream.
A clean mips64 build produces no output except for two lines:
Checking missing-syscalls for N32
Checking missing-syscalls for O32
On other architectures, there is no output at all, so let's do the

commit 128639395b2ceacc6a56a0141d0261012bfe04d3 upstream.
Update the recent changes to set_pte() that were added in 46011e6ea392

commit e967ef022e00bb7c2e5b1a42007abfdd52055050 upstream.
When 32-bit MIPS userspace invokes a syscall indirectly via syscall(number,
arg1, ..., arg7), the kernel looks up the actual syscall based on the given
number, shifts the other arguments to the left, and jumps to the syscall.
If the syscall is interrupted by a signal and indicates it needs to be
restarted by the kernel (by returning ERESTARTNOINTR for example), the
syscall must be called directly, since the number is no longer the first
argument, and the other arguments are now staged for a direct call.
Before shifting the arguments, store the syscall number in pt_regs->regs[2].
This gets copied temporarily into pt_regs->regs[0] after the syscall returns.
If the syscall needs to be restarted, handle_signal()/do_signal() copies the
number back to pt_regs->reg[2], which ends up in $v0 once control returns to
userspace.

commit 53960059d56ecef67d4ddd546731623641a3d2d1 upstream.
If there is a DMA zone (usually 24bit = 16MB I believe), but no DMA32
zone, as is the case for some 32-bit kernels, then massage_gfp_flags()
will cause DMA memory allocated for devices with a 32..63-bit
coherent_dma_mask to fall back to using __GFP_DMA, even though there may
only be 32-bits of physical address available anyway.
Correct that case to compare against a mask the size of phys_addr_t
instead of always using a 64-bit mask.

commit 46011e6ea39235e4aca656673c500eac81a07a17 upstream.
On MIPS the GLOBAL bit of the PTE must have the same value in any
aligned pair of PTEs. These pairs of PTEs are referred to as
"buddies". In a SMP system is is possible for two CPUs to be calling
set_pte() on adjacent PTEs at the same time. There is a race between
setting the PTE and a different CPU setting the GLOBAL bit in its
buddy PTE.
This race can be observed when multiple CPUs are executing
vmap()/vfree() at the same time.
Make setting the buddy PTE's GLOBAL bit an atomic operation to close
the race condition.
The case of CONFIG_64BIT_PHYS_ADDR && CONFIG_CPU_MIPS32 is *not*
handled.

commit 4d46a67a3eb827ccf1125959936fd51ba318dabc upstream.
The lazy cache flushing implemented in the MIPS kernel suffers from a
race condition that is exposed by do_set_pte() in mm/memory.c.
A pre-condition is a file-system that writes to the page from the CPU
in its readpage method and then calls flush_dcache_page(). One example
is ubifs. Another pre-condition is that the dcache flush is postponed
in __flush_dcache_page().
Upon a page fault for an executable mapping not existing in the
page-cache, the following will happen:
1. Write to the page
2. flush_dcache_page
3. flush_icache_page
4. set_pte_at
5. update_mmu_cache (commits the flush of a dcache-dirty page)
Between steps 4 and 5 another thread can hit the same page and it will
encounter a valid pte. Because the data still is in the L1 dcache the CPU
will fetch stale data from L2 into the icache and execute garbage.
This fix moves the commit of the cache flush to step 3 to close the
race window. It also reduces the amount of flushes on non-executable
mappings because we never enter __flush_dcache_page() for non-aliasing
CPUs.
Regressions can occur in drivers that mistakenly relies on the
flush_dcache_page() in get_user_pages() for DMA operations.

Commit 334c86c494b9 ("MIPS: IRQ: Add stackoverflow detection") added
kernel stack overflow detection, however it only enabled it conditional
upon the preprocessor definition DEBUG_STACKOVERFLOW, which is never

which manifests to the preprocessor as CONFIG_DEBUG_STACKOVERFLOW, so
switch it to using that definition instead.

commit c7754e75100ed5e3068ac5085747f2bfc386c8d6 upstream.
As printk() invocation can cause e.g. a TLB miss, printk() cannot be
called before the exception handlers have been properly initialized.
This can happen e.g. when netconsole has been loaded as a kernel module
and the TLB table has been cleared when a CPU was offline.
Call cpu_report() in start_secondary() only after the exception handlers
have been initialized to fix this.
Without the patch the kernel will randomly either lockup or crash
after a CPU is onlined and the console driver is a module.

commit a3e6c1eff54878506b2dddcc202df9cc8180facb upstream.
If the irq_chip does not define .irq_disable, any call to disable_irq
will defer disabling the IRQ until it fires while marked as disabled.
This assumes that the handler function checks for this condition, which
handle_percpu_irq does not. In this case, calling disable_irq leads to
an IRQ storm, if the interrupt fires while disabled.
This optimization is only useful when disabling the IRQ is slow, which
is not true for the MIPS CPU IRQ.
Disable this optimization by implementing .irq_disable and .irq_enable

commit 33692f27597fcab536d7cbbcc8f52905133e4aa7 upstream.
The core VM already knows about VM_FAULT_SIGBUS, but cannot return a
"you should SIGSEGV" error, because the SIGSEGV case was generally
handled by the caller - usually the architecture fault handler.
That results in lots of duplication - all the architecture fault
handlers end up doing very similar "look up vma, check permissions, do
retries etc" - but it generally works. However, there are cases where
the VM actually wants to SIGSEGV, and applications _expect_ SIGSEGV.
In particular, when accessing the stack guard page, libsigsegv expects a
SIGSEGV. And it usually got one, because the stack growth is handled by
that duplicated architecture fault handler.
However, when the generic VM layer started propagating the error return
from the stack expansion in commit fee7e49d4514 ("mm: propagate error
from stack expansion even for guard page"), that now exposed the
existing VM_FAULT_SIGBUS result to user space. And user space really
expected SIGSEGV, not SIGBUS.
To fix that case, we need to add a VM_FAULT_SIGSEGV, and teach all those
duplicate architecture fault handlers about it. They all already have
the code to handle SIGSEGV, so it's about just tying that new return
value to the existing code, but it's all a bit annoying.
This is the mindless minimal patch to do this. A more extensive patch
would be to try to gather up the mostly shared fault handling logic into
one generic helper routine, and long-term we really should do that
cleanup.
Just from this patch, you can generally see that most architectures just
copied (directly or indirectly) the old x86 way of doing things, but in
the meantime that original x86 model has been improved to hold the VM
semaphore for shorter times etc and to handle VM_FAULT_RETRY and other
"newer" things, so it would be a good idea to bring all those
improvements to the generic case and teach other architectures about
them too.

commit 8a574cfa2652545eb95595d38ac2a0bb501af0ae upstream.
Every mcount() call in the MIPS 32-bit kernel is done as follows:
[...]
move at, ra
jal _mcount
addiu sp, sp, -8
[...]
but upon returning from the mcount() function, the stack pointer
is not adjusted properly. This is explained in details in 58b69401c797
(MIPS: Function tracer: Fix broken function tracing).
Commit ad8c396936e3 ("MIPS: Unbreak function tracer for 64-bit kernel.)
fixed the stack manipulation for 64-bit but it didn't fix it completely
for MIPS32.

commit 29593fd5a8149462ed6fad0d522234facdaee6c8 upstream.
Commit dc4d7b37 (MIPS: ZBOOT: gather string functions into string.c)
moved the string related functions into a separate file, which might
cause the following build error, depending on the configuration:
| CC arch/mips/boot/compressed/decompress.o
| In file included from linux/arch/mips/boot/compressed/../../../../lib/decompress_unxz.c:234:0,
| from linux/arch/mips/boot/compressed/decompress.c:67:
| linux/arch/mips/boot/compressed/../../../../lib/xz/xz_dec_stream.c: In function 'fill_temp':
| linux/arch/mips/boot/compressed/../../../../lib/xz/xz_dec_stream.c:162:2: error: implicit declaration of function 'memcpy' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]
| cc1: some warnings being treated as errors
| linux/scripts/Makefile.build:308: recipe for target 'arch/mips/boot/compressed/decompress.o' failed
| make[6]: *** [arch/mips/boot/compressed/decompress.o] Error 1
| linux/arch/mips/Makefile:308: recipe for target 'vmlinuz' failed
It does not fail with the standard configuration, as when
CONFIG_DYNAMIC_DEBUG is not enabled <linux/string.h> gets included in
include/linux/dynamic_debug.h. There might be other ways for it to
get indirectly included.
We can't add the include directly in xz_dec_stream.c as some
architectures might want to use a different version for the boot/
directory (see for example arch/x86/boot/string.h).

Caches in most systems are identical - but not always, so we can't avoid
the use of smp_call_function() by just looking at the boot CPU's data,
have to fiddle with preemption instead.

commit 608308682addfdc7b8e2aee88f0e028331d88e4d upstream.
get_system_type() is not thread-safe on OCTEON. It uses static data,
also more dangerous issue is that it's calling cvmx_fuse_read_byte()
every time without any synchronization. Currently it's possible to get
processes stuck looping forever in kernel simply by launching multiple
readers of /proc/cpuinfo:
(while true; do cat /proc/cpuinfo > /dev/null; done) &
(while true; do cat /proc/cpuinfo > /dev/null; done) &
...
Fix by initializing the system type string only once during the early
boot.

commit ffc8415afab20bd97754efae6aad1f67b531132b upstream.
A GIC interrupt which is declared as having a GIC_MAP_TO_NMI_MSK
mapping causes the cpu parameter to gic_setup_intr() to be increased
to 32, causing memory corruption when pcpu_masks[] is written to again
later in the function.

commit b1442d39fac2fcfbe6a4814979020e993ca59c9e upstream.
If one or more matching FCSR cause & enable bits are set in saved thread
context then when that context is restored the kernel will take an FP
exception. This is of course undesirable and considered an oops, leading
to the kernel writing a backtrace to the console and potentially
rebooting depending upon the configuration. Thus the kernel avoids this
situation by clearing the cause bits of the FCSR register when handling
FP exceptions and after emulating FP instructions.
However the kernel does not prevent userland from setting arbitrary FCSR
cause & enable bits via ptrace, using either the PTRACE_POKEUSR or
PTRACE_SETFPREGS requests. This means userland can trivially cause the
kernel to oops on any system with an FPU. Prevent this from happening
by clearing the cause bits when writing to the saved FCSR context via
ptrace.
This problem appears to exist at least back to the beginning of the git
era in the PTRACE_POKEUSR case.

commit 8393c524a25609a30129e4a8975cf3b91f6c16a5 upstream.
In commit 2c8c53e28f1 (MIPS: Optimize TLB handlers for Octeon CPUs)
build_r4000_tlb_refill_handler() is modified. But it doesn't compatible
with the original code in HUGETLB case. Because there is a copy & paste
error and one line of code is missing. It is very easy to produce a bug
with LTP's hugemmap05 test.

commit ab6c15bc6620ebe220970cc040b29bcb2757f373 upstream.
Previously, the lower limit for the MIPS SC initialization loop was
set incorrectly allowing one extra loop leading to writes
beyond the MSC ioremap'd space. More precisely, the value of the 'imp'
in the last loop increased beyond the msc_irqmap_t boundaries and
as a result of which, the 'n' variable was loaded with an incorrect
value. This value was used later on to calculate the offset in the
MSC01_IC_SUP which led to random crashes like the following one:
CPU 0 Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address e75c0200,
epc == 8058dba4, ra == 8058db90
