bfin_mdiobus_reset() does nothing useful and is optional for the MDIO
bus code, so let's just remove it.

Replace dev_kfree_skb with dev_consume_skb_any in _tx_reclaim_skb that
can be called in hard irq and other contexts.

dev_consume_skb is used as _tx_reclaim_skb is called after a packet
has been successfully transmitted.

This patch updates the many PTP Hardware Clock drivers with the
newly introduced field that advertises the number of programmable
pins. Some of these devices do have programmable pins, but the
implementation will have to wait for follow on patches.

<title>net: bfin_mac: do not reset PHY after phy_start()</title>

The PHY is already reset during driver probing, and this manual reset
after calling phy_start() will wipe out board-specific PHY fixups and
driver specific configuration initialization. Remove that explicit PHY
reset.

<title>adi: Remove extern from function prototypes</title>

There are a mix of function prototypes with and without extern
in the kernel sources. Standardize on not using extern for
function prototypes.

Function prototypes don't need to be written with extern.
extern is assumed by the compiler. Its use is as unnecessary as
using auto to declare automatic/local variables in a block.

drivers/net/ethernet/adi/bfin_mac.c.

It's a NOOP since 2.6.35 and it will be removed one day.

accessing dev-&gt;platform_data directly. This is a cosmetic change
to make the code simpler and enhance the readability.

<title>net: Move MII out from under NET_CORE and hide it</title>

All drivers that select MII also need to select NET_CORE because MII
depends on it. This is a bit ridiculous because NET_CORE is just a
menu option that doesn't enable any code by itself.

There is also no need for it to be a visible option, since its users
all select it.

The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release
or on probe failure, since commit 0998d0631001288a5974afc0b2a5f568bcdecb4d
(device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no driver is bound).
Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL.
